ComiCONN fun. @comiconn #comicbooks

Greetings, We at Wayward Raven Media had a brilliant time at the ComiCONN in Trumbull, CT on August 24th. The staff and volunteers were superb. The accommodations simply put many other similar sized cons to shame. The crowd was larger than expected but replete with enthusiasm and curiosity, which added to our experience exponentially. It didn't hurt that we were local either.

The cosplay was quite good but I am sorry that we didn't capture all of the magnificent specimens in digital form but we had to work selling our comic books The Ascendant #1-2 and Horsemen #1 along with prints from Damn Heroes as well as our prose Ominous Odes and The Cell. As for sales, it was splendid. Really quite a good day and the people who bought our titles were thoughtful and excited to get new material into their hands. I am sure that was positively influenced by the setting where very successful people in the comic book industry like Ron Marz, Mark Bagley, JM DeMatteis, and Jim Salicrup mingled with us just starting outs. Hey even Larry Kenney, Lion-O from the 1985 Thundercats, was there and he was actually just a couple tables over from us.

Basically, it rocked and we will exhibit again if they will have us next year. Now, for what you really want besides my gushing praise, photos.

Sneak peek at Signed #comicbooks

Well these are a few of the inked pages from the new series Signed. Actually, Signed is an overall title given to a collective of story lines coming up but this post is about Signed: C. (This is a working title) Was going to post the colored pages but it appears there is an issue. Don't worry, they will be up sometime soon before we debut the series at the New York Comic-Con where we will be in the Small Press area. In Signed: C, a sorceress is also a talent agent in NYC and one of her clients goes missing so she ventures across the planes of existence to find her model client. When I say model, I mean one who poses for pictures. Plots from the sorceress's past bubble up, pop into her present, and could determine the future for mankind as well as the gods alike. So here's a sneak peek.

Thank you fans and Boston Comic-Con #comicbooks

We at Wayward Raven had our best two day show yet at the Boston Comic-Con. We got to see our friends from Station Studios and meet some of the best comic book fans in the country. It was our first time at the convention and didn't know what to expect but it exceeded what we could have imagined. The staff was friendly and the check in process was swift, which is nice when hauling gear onto the show floor. Over all no complaints and we are over-joyed to have been able to meet and greet so many while introducing them to our comic books, prose, and artwork from Alex. The con was a comic book centered event all the way unlike some other shows and the cosplay was indeed on par with any cons we've been to and there have been many. We would like to extend our thanks to every attendee who came to our tables, stopped to talk, and even buy some of our products. We would like to thank the convention organizers and staff as they put on a great show and because of the success we heard that it might be a three day event next year.

As for the location on the Seaport, it was simply lovely. Our hotel was stay was one of the better we've had and a nice room makes the long days seem not so long. But you don't want to hear about the logistics and other mind numbing details of exhibiting. You want to see the show and so the pictures come.

One last thing: the con attendees were some of the nicest and informed comic book fans we've met. To that, we say CHEERS ONE AND ALL!!! You made our con great.  If you couldn't make it, you can still buy Horsemen, The Ascendant #1-2, Ominous Odes, The Cell and check out Damn Heroes all on this site. Sorry, had to put that there.

Enjoy the pics of one of the best conventions on the east coast.

So whatcha bringing to Boston Comic Con?

As I'm sure you all know, in just two days we will be up at Boston Comic Con firmly entrenched in Artist Alley. Our raven shall proudly fly high above tables AAW21 and AAW22, so please do swing by and chill with us. But what will you have with you, one might ask. Oh many, many goodies, we would respond. For starters, we will have new, never before seen prints of some of your favorite characters in situations that the twisted minds here at Wayward Raven find funny. Hopefully you will as well. Of course we will have some of your favorite Damn Heroes strips and prints from Horsemen and The Ascendant too. An original, one of a kind piece of artwork from Horsemen will be on full display!

Additionally, copies of our comics The Ascendant and Horsemen will be available for purchase and Mark and Josh will be happy to sign them. Ominous Odes and the Cell will also be represented, complete with more John Hancocks. A Damn Heroes activity book will make an appearance for the kids and we have a few t-shirts to give out to some discriminating patrons. There may even be some copies of something Marvelous that Mark and Josh were fortunate enough to work on.

Lastly, Alex will be taking commissions. Just don't ask him to draw unicorns as they frighten him and may cause him to hide under the table for the remainder of the con. We suspect he had a run in with one in a dark alley or an arcade on the Atlantic City boardwalk, but whenever we ask him simply goes fetal and asks for his woobie.

And so we hope to see you all there. If you can't make it, feel free to watch our Twitter/Instagram feeds and Facebook pages where we will share the action. Ars longa, vita brevis.
