Confirmed! Diversity Comic Con is a go.

Diversity Comic Con is a go!!

We weren’t sure if our application would be land in time for October 16-17th but virtual wings will soar on digital winds.

There will be: Cosplay, Guest Speakers, Panels, and Exhibitors.

AND it is totally FREE. Anyone in the world with internet access can join in.

Meet the Wayward Raven group, a video.

Here’s a little video we did for the con. It is similar to the way we greet and sling elevator pitches at convention IRL. Little more formal but at least we don’t need to yell over crowd noise.

Reasons to sign up for your free tickets!

Shawn Martinbrough is the Keynote speaker. He is an acclaimed creator/artist who has a list of creations that span DC, Marvel, Dark Horse Comics, and more.

Amy Chu is a guest and runs Alpha Girl Comics. You might know other work like Red Sonja, X-O: Manowar, and the graphic novel Ana and the Cosmos Race.

Gamal Hennessy is going to be there. He just ran a successful Kickstarter campaign for his book on the legal aspects of comic book production as well as the business side. He is an attorney and author. One of the coolest people we have met in our travels.

Alitha E. Martinez is an artist who has contributed much to Marvel Comics.

There are too many to list so we advise going to the website and checking out the guest list.

The panels that sound awesome you might want to check out:

Friday, October 16th

Obviously the Keynote address at 4:00 pm. Got to watch that.

Creator Networking at 8:00 pm is a must. Comic books are a small world.

Saturday, October 17th

Insights from the 1:00 pm panel on Covid-19’s Impact on the Comics Industry has our attention.

AND don’t forget about the Instagram Cosplay Challenge. You can post at least 5 images using the hashtag #FITDVC but this must be done by October 14. Look at the website page for more details.

Mark and Alex from 2019 DiversityCon. As usual, Mark is working hard and Alex is being silly.

Okay, you might be asking why three white dudes are part of this convention celebrating diversity in the US comics industry?

All have a place, but in this case, we represent certain backgrounds and diverse outlooks. Mark is Jewish. Alex is the First-Generation son of Greek immigrants, and Joshua is of the neurodiverse realm being autistic.

—The FIT Diversity Comic Con is an annual celebration of multiculturalism and acceptance of all colors, creeds and genders in the sequential arts. Hosted and funded by The Diversity Council at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. For all inquiries, please email ramon_gil@fitnyc.edu

So we hope you check it out and maybe find something thrilling, thought-provoking, inspiring, or just plain fun. See you in the virtual.

Cheers!!!
